The church isn’t a building yet it’s the people. The first church was birthed the minute the Holy Spirit fell on the disciples. “When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place. Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting. They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them. All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them.” Acts 2:1-4
When Jesus died then rose again after 3 days he stayed for awhile to witness and instruct the people what to do once he’s gone up in heaven. He said he’d give them his spirit to go whenever they go and give them the power to preform the tasks that the lord is calling them to. Once Jesus ascended to heaven with the Father, some disciples went into a room together upstairs ( UPPERROOM) and the Holy Spirit ( power of God) fell on them in the room. That’s where the first church started. We are the church. The church isn’t the building yet it’s when the believers gathered in agreement and allowed the Holy Spirit to work through them. The church is the people being sent out and reaching people with the Holy Spirit that lives within us!!! The question isn’t “am I going to heaven?” But “is the kingdom of God in my life?” Our goal is to make earth look like heaven. Jesus didn’t come to be changed by culture! He came to change the culture we live in! Let’s stop worrying about numbers to bring to church and start becoming the church and investing in the individuals around us!!! Through his spirit, we have authority and power to do incredible things!! Today know that we don’t have to wait for a Sunday or a Wednesday but the same Holy Spirit that gave powers to the disciples back then is the same Holy Spirit in us now! There is no “junior” Holy Spirit!! Once we become aware of the authority and awakened to the access we have in being a child of God then that’s when we can fulfill the great commission. To reach our world! Change our generation with the gospel!!! Let’s become awakened!! This is the church!
